When Should I See a Cardiologist?

Your primary care physician will ask you to see a cardiologist if you are experiencing symptoms, such as:

  • Chest pain or discomfort
  • Shortness of breath
  • Irregular heartbeats
  • High blood pressure
  • Family history of heart disease

Proactive Heart Health

Know Your Risk Factors

  • Family history of heart disease
  • History of smoking
  • Poor diet
  • Lack of exercise
  • High stress
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Type 1 and type 2 diabetes
  • Obesity

Eat Healthy

Eat a well-balanced diet consisting of rich fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. Limit saturated, trans fats, processed sugar and salt will help lower your cholesterol and blood pressure.

Exercise Regularly

Exercising regularly for at least 30 minutes a day is crucial to maintaining a healthy heart. Regular exercise helps to improve blood flow, maintain a healthy weight and lower blood pressure and cholesterol.

Monitor Your Blood Pressure and Cholesterol

Keeping up with your regular check-ups with your healthcare provider can help monitor your blood pressure and cholesterol over time. This allows you to stay on top of your heart health and catch any issues early.
