Utilizing the Latest Technology to Improve Patient Care

Cardiovascular imaging includes several ways to take images of your heart and connecting anatomy to improve care. Some of our advanced cardiovascular imaging services include:

Echocardiography (ECHO)

Our Southcoast Health echocardiography laboratory offers a range of diagnostic testing and procedures. An ECHO procedure uses sound waves to provide real-time images of your beating heart’s chambers, valves and aorta. An echocardiogram is the primary imaging test used to diagnose and guide treatment of a wide range of heart conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, heart valve disease, congenital defects, aortic pathology. It can be combined with stress testing or done with more advanced & 3D techniques to facilitate many different heart procedures.

Cardiac Computed Tomographic (CT) Scans

Our specialists provide advanced cardiac CT scans in collaboration with the radiology department to identify and assess cardiac function and aid in clinical decision making. Specific CT scans that we offer include:

  • CT angiography – a non-invasive way to visualize coronary, pulmonary, and peripheral arteries, and can be used to assess risk by obtaining coronary calcium scores.

Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Cardiac MRIs are used to assess heart viability and structural defects. It is an effective method for calculating heart function from excellent images without radiation exposure.

Nuclear Cardiology

Our nuclear cardiologists partner with radiologists to perform and evaluate nuclear stress tests, which are used to assess the probability of coronary artery disease. Our nuclear cameras are the most advanced available and provide the most precise imaging, which helps improve diagnostic accuracy.
